It is amazing how quickly the time goes. As I reflect on the last seven years, I am amazed at how quickly the years have gone by. More significantly, I am also struck by how much we have accomplished in the past few years.
The Synod of Bishops on the New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Christian Faith made a simple, but profound statement concerning faith: “For the first Christian communities, communion was a constitutive element of the life of faith” (Prop. 41).
It was a moment I will never forget. I was in high school, and a young priest whom I greatly admired for his joyful spirit and for his faithful daily service of the suffering said to me: “Tom, you should think of becoming a priest.”
