Each year, close to his feast day of May 26, we celebrate St. Philip Neri, the Patron Saint of Catholic Missions In Canada. This year we were able to gather together again with many of our donors and our special guest and Keynote Speaker, Archbishop Francis Leo from the Archdiocese of Toronto.
In previous years, we would hold the event at Toronto’s St. Michael’s Cathedral. The agenda would include a Mass followed by a light lunch and keynote address. Like many other events across our great land, in-person gatherings were put on hold for the past 3 years because of COVID. In the case of CMIC, the St. Philip Masses were held virtually online during this time. As wonderful as technology is, Mass is always better in person. This year it was held at the Fr. Rene Goupil Chapel at the Archdiocese of Toronto’s offices in downtown Toronto. We had a full house! Everyone was very happy to participate and come together again for the fellowship. Of course, it did help that Archbishop Leo was our guest speaker. Everyone was so eager to hear from Toronto’s new Archbishop and CMIC’s new Apostolic Chancellor. His talk was very stirring and everybody appreciated his words. Catholic Missions In Canada is very lucky to have Archbishop Leo as its new Chancellor. It was wonderful to get together again.
Please join us virtually on November 2nd, All Souls Day for our annual CMIC Memorial Mass where we pay homage to our deceased donors and benefactors from the past year.
